Aim / objectives
● To make teachers familiar with Kolb’s experiential learning theory
● To increase teacher’s awareness on different learners
● To increase their capacity on how to consider these learners while designing programmes via experiential learning
Materials & resources
Handouts of Honey / Mumford's learning styles questionnaire
Target group size
10-20
Duration
90 min
Pre-session checklist
1. Room Setup
2. material prep/ handouts / prints
3. warm up activity needed
4. annexes
Implementation
● Introduce the session to participants.
● Administer the learning styles test by Alan Mumford and Peter Honey.
● Organize participants into 4 groups (Activists, Reflectors, Theorists, Pragmatists) based on their test results.
● Facilitate discussions within each group: Explore factors that facilitate their learning process. Identify challenges that hinder their learning experience.
● Present the model of 4 learning styles (Activist, Reflector, Theorist, Pragmatist).
● Introduce Kolb’s experiential learning Cycle by using EduActive Manual for teachers.
● Mention about how to implement debriefing through experiential learning leading questions
● Sum up and finalize the session with q/a
Review & debriefing
Debriefing leading questions as sample could be shared :
Eg.
- How did you feel?
- What happened?
- How does it happen in real life?
- How would you use it in your professional work?
